Sportsman Web  - Development Roadmap

 (Ver 1.0 August 2020)

The Sportsman Software Product Development team is very excited to have launched an early version of the browser-based version of Sportsman called Sportsman Web.  This product took several years to plan – making decisions on the optimal programming language and tools for example took 2 years including trials and testing.  Once decisions were made about the tools we would use and the approach we would take we needed to find and train additional programming staff to help us with this mission.   Of course there were many business decisions being made simultaneously including how to improve our existing customer product and service responses, freshen our marketing and branding, improve our sales efforts and build operating efficiencies in order to manage the expenses of this new investment without passing on significant increases to our customers.  Thanks to the dedication of our Peak Software family we have been able to balance all these things and make critical advances in developing the premier launch of Sportsman Web.     We could not have done this without our clients who have consistently provided us with feedback on our desktop application and helped us understand their growing need for a feature rich browser-based program.   We have had dozens of clients provide feedback to our ‘pilot’ versions of Sportsman Web and we encourage you to as well.

Our objectives in developing Sportsman Web are to:

·       offer access from a variety of web devices,

·       provide mobility and flexibility in where and how it can be used,

·       make screens more attractive, fresh, and dynamic,

·       to keep options and flows similar to the desktop application so that it is intuitive,

·       to add new features from our many client enhancement suggestions, and

·       to build efficiencies so our clients can use multiple screens and access multiple sites.

The current version is intended to be used in conjunction with the Sportsman downloaded application or as a convenient stand-alone to have access the new Dashboard, Patron Look-up information and Reporting.  Our goal is to continue to develop Sportsman Web by adding all modules and features of the Sportsman downloaded application including new and improved items over the next few years.  While using Sportsman Web you may see “grayed-out” feature listings or tabs in menus – this means they are unavailable currently, but in development.   Eventually Sportsman Web will be able to serve as a replacement for the desktop application for those customers that desire it while we continue to support the desktop application.

We hope you can participate in our journey as we move toward the goal of making Sportsman Web a stand-alone product over the next several years.   The following development Roadmap is a general plan for the order of modules and features we intend to build.  This plan is based on priorities for the features our clients use most.    We will continue to rollout new features frequently with major feature and module rollouts several times per year.   We will update this Development Plan for your reference as we progress.
