Overview
A cash register is a definition in Sportsman used to group financial transactions. Visualize it as a cash box to put payments in (you may have a physical cash drawer attached to the computer using the cash register you set up). The cash register in Sportsman opens a till which record transactions during the day. Then, at a later time you reconcile the payments you collected at the end of the day. Tills can be automatically or manually closed and then will be reconciled for accuracy.
For a computer to sell anything in Sportsman (i.e. Activity Registration, Day Pass, Facility Reservation, Merchandise, etc.), it must be assigned to a cash register definition and a cash register key. (See Prerequisites below)
By having multiple cash register definitions, you can have different batches of funds for the front desk, vs. a concession stand, the back office, etc. SportsMan always has a separate cash register definition for the internet so that payments collected on the ActivityReg site are separate from the ones collected at the counter
You may have multiple workstations linked to a single cash register, and all the workstations that are linked will be operating within a single till associated with that cash register. You may also have each workstation linked to a separate cash register and working within its own till. Individual users logging in to a cash register are connected to cash register transactions.
In addition to these steps, you may also want to define key set and assign it to one or more Cash Registers you have defined. You can also link inventory control to a cash register to track quantities of items sold. You can also set up merchandise with pricing lists on your keyset definitions.
Your workstation users can have various permissions associated with cash registers including voiding transactions and issuing refunds.
Prerequisite: You must have a Workstation Installed prior to these steps. If you are using Inventory Module you also must set up the inventory so that cash register sales will link with that inventory system. The Point of Sale Module offers advanced features customizable keyset definitions, custom payment screen layouts, and tracking inventory.

Here you can learn how to set up your cash registers.
There are two types you might have.
It is either a dependent, or an independent. The difference is: Dependent Cash registers depend on a receipt printer to function. An Independent Cash Register stands alone and plugs directly into your pc.
How to tell what your model is: The dependent cash drawer has only a
PHONE CORD Coming out of the back. The Independent Drawer has two cables.

Credit Card Accounts and Processing
For both in person/in-house and for online transactions you will need to integrate a credit card processing account with Sportsman. See a list of the Gateways we integrate with using the tab from the main page.
There are 2 types of card accounts - a "card present" account which you will use for in person or card on file transactions initated by Sportsman users and a "non-card present/online" account
which you will use for all transactions on your ActivityReg patron registration website.
Your Gateway integration configuration is located at
File>Administration>Site Configuration on the 'Credit Cards' tab. You will need Sportsman administrative permissions to access this area.
You also must have PCI Mode enabled to protect your patron card data.
